The Jack Hills iron ore project is located 380 kilometres north east of the port city of Geraldton . The project is owned and operated by Crosslands Resources Ltd (Crosslands).  Murchison and Mitsubishi each own a 50% interest in Crosslands.

Mining at Jack Hills commenced in late 2006 and the first shipment of ore from Geraldton was in February 2007.

Stage 1 operations utilise contract mining, crushing and screening.  Iron ore is transported to Geraldton by contract road haulage to ore storage and transfer facilities at the Port of Geraldton ahead of shipment to customers.

Crosslands produces a high quality product at 65% Fe grade for lump and 63% for fines.  With Crosslands quality product, strong customer relationships and proven track record in product delivery, it is favoured by customers through all market cycles.

Through the Stage 1 operations, Crosslands has established important relationships with the mid-west community, government and potential customers.  These relationships and the technical data gained from Stage 1 operations are important features of the planning for the mine expansion project.
